You can easily predict your teen’s financial future by taking a close look at his/her current money habits and attitudes.   Take a look at this questionnaire and draw your own conclusions:

  1. Does your teen learn about money on his or her own (through books, webinars, DVDs, games, websites, etc.) on a regular basis?
  2. Is your teen practicing money management habits that have natural consequences built into them?  For example, if your teen fails to save or spend according to plan, does he feel the natural consequence of this?
  3. Is your teen managing money in a way that includes giving 10% of all he/she receives from paychecks and gifts to a cause he/she cares about?
  4. Does your teen understand that wealth building is the process of following a series of simple steps that anyone can do?
  5. Does your teen see money as a tool that funds their dreams and their ability to make a difference in the world?
  6. Does your teen talk freely about money in a positive way?  Is there plenty of opportunity and encouragement to talk about money in your home?
